MMO World Design — Entropia Universe
RockTropia was the first new planet built after Entropia Universe migrated to CryEngine — a rock-and-pop-culture world inside the real-cash-economy MMO, created with Jon "NEVERDIE" Jacobs and NEVERDIE Studios and launched in 2010. It's home to things like a King Kong adventure and Lemmy's Castle, built with Motörhead's Lemmy Kilmister.
As Lead Designer I led a team of artists, animators, and world builders to design and build the planet in Crytek's Sandbox (CryEngine 2). It's still live in Entropia Universe today.
Why it matters: this was open-world MMO design at full scale — an entire persistent planet, with a real economy riding on it, built inside a game engine.
