Virtual World — Entropia Universe

Planet Michael

2010–2011 · In Development CryEngine 2 · Crytek Sandbox Lead Designer

A memorial world at MMO scale

Planet Michael was an ambitious virtual world celebrating Michael Jackson — announced in 2010 as a collaboration between SEE Virtual Worlds and the Michael Jackson Estate, to be built inside Entropia Universe.

As Lead Designer I led a team of artists, animators, and world builders developing the planet in Crytek's Sandbox (CryEngine 2). The project was in active development through 2010–2011; the partnership behind it wound down before a public launch.

Why it matters: designing an entire memorial world around one of the most iconic figures in music — at MMO scale, with an estate's blessing — is a rare and high-stakes brief.

Worldbuilding in Sandbox

CryEngine 2 · Environment Design

The planet took shape in CryEngine 2 — terrain, vegetation, structures, and atmosphere built at MMO scale.

Every environment was developed inside Crytek's Sandbox editor by the team I led as Lead Designer.

Captures from the planet running live in engine — the world as a player inside Entropia Universe would have explored it.

The project was in active development through 2010–2011 before the partnership behind it wound down.
