A commercial shipyard in Split — under Yugoslavia, one of the largest in Eastern Europe. Now aging and half in disrepair, it's still both a working shipyard and a naval base.
We had special permission to shoot here, with one restriction: never photograph the military side. Wandering the yard you find relics rusting in long disuse — to my American eyes, exactly what a decaying Eastern Bloc industry should look like.
