Virtual Reality With Stan Lee | Stereo 360 Shoot | VR Playhouse
Virtual Reality With Stan Lee
Last week, I had the incredible opportunity to film a Virtual Reality interview with the legendary Stan Lee using new cutting-edge Stereo Red Weapons that shot in 8K resolution. The location was Stan’s cozy home office above Sunset Plaza, a place filled with the magic of comic book history. Legion Entertainment, the brains behind the project, aimed to immortalize key figures in the comic book industry for future generations to experience in Virtual Reality.
Being the Technical Director at VR Playhouse, I was tasked with designing the camera system for this special shoot. We shot with the state-of-the-art Red Weapon 8K. Using a stereo pair setup on an offset nodal rig. We used a Cook 14mm lens and the wide-angle lens played a crucial role, allowing us a large sweet spot. We shot clean plates so that we could capture the whole office. Then when we filmed Stan Le and Kevin Smith we kept them center frame so that we could blend them into the stitched 360 background.
Stan Lee, accompanied by his wife and daughter, made the experience even more memorable. His warmth and engagement resonated with everyone on set, making it a shoot to remember. Typically, I’m not always on-site during shoots, trusting our Head of Production, DJ, to handle things. However, this shoot was a game-changer on multiple fronts – interviewing Stan Lee in his home office added a unique touch, and technically, we needed an extra set of eyes.
