Things From Above | 2015 +

This series of photographs began when I started wanting to test my Canon TS-E 90mm f 2.8 tilt shift. I built a white topless cube out of foam core, and used a soft box from above. When I am testing cameras or lights I tend to use small objects that I have collected over the years, especially with anything telephoto. Some of these items are deeply personal to me. The most personal being the hair in the old tin. The old tin is from Russia and belonged to my great grandmother, who fled to escapes Tsarist ┬áRussia. The hair is my mother’s first haircut, she passed away when I was 21, and this in a way is my grip on her reality.
